PHILLIPS BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION, LLC started as a family business in southern Meade County in 1965 by Donald Phillips The company began operations as a residential homebuilder and expanded to include a complete site development division as well as a commercial building division and formerly did business as part of “Phillips Brothers of Hardin County” before the site work and commercial division split from the residential homebuilding group. Phillips Brothers Construction performs all commercial building, excavating, utility, demolition, clearing, concrete and paving work under its present name since 2001.We perform work for large and small clients.
The heavy equipment side of the house is fully computerized with the latest in cost accounting, sitework estimating, and modeling. We have in house survey capability in GPS and Robotic forms as well as grading equipment with on board GPS installed.
We were members of the design build Human Resource campus project team at Fort Knox Kentucky, Performing design assist and sitework for the largest single building project ever constructed at Fort Knox.

Larry Phillips, Owner and managing member of Phillips Brothers Construction heads the sitework division. Mr. Phillips 30 years of experience includes all phases of the business,
including a stint as a contract driller for gas and oil wells in
Cliff Smith, 26 years of construction experience and a University of Kentucky graduate in Civil Engineering (1984) anchors the estimating and engineering design department. Mr. Smith’s background includes numerous Corps of Engineers projects at
Larry Rice, 34 years of experience and another staffer w/some formal training and education at Southern Indiana University. Has a variety of experience as a former Facility Manager for American Barge Lines supervising their construction of bridges, land and water terminals across the USA. Larry is also a former Vice President of a Development Corporation which averaged 25 million in annual sales.
Jim VanTassel, 28 years in site development, steel and concrete construction assists in the estimating and is involved in the field coordination and logistics.
Cory Redmon, a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a degree in Architectural design and construction management has 8 solid years of experience. Cory is already a proven estimator in the office and has experience as a field project manager on our larger Corps of Engineer projects including multiple Barracks construction projects, and the Human Resources campus construction.
Matt Curran, another graduate of Western Kentucky University in 2005 with a degree in Architectural design and construction management began his career with 5 years of building construction before joining Phillips Brothers 2 years ago. Matt was the onsite manager for our Elizabethtown Kohl’s project and is now heavily involved in estimating.
